Are you curious about how to pursue meaningful work outside the university after you earn your PhD? Are you interested in learning about a range of career possibilities for humanists? Come join us and learn how other humanities PhDs have navigated their post-degree ambitions. This event features humanities PhD alumni who have carved career pathways in the business world and a broad range of education positions — including community colleges and K-12.
Our guests will discuss their career trajectories as part of two panels. Then, in small, rotating discussion sessions, they’ll advise current PhD students and their faculty and staff mentors about skills and best practices that their own employers seek and value.
This event is free, made possible by the Obermann Center for Advanced Studies, UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, UI Graduate College, and by generous funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
