Working Relationships: A Professional Networking Workshop

February 13, 2020, 4:00–6:00 p.m.
Upstairs at Brix Wine & Cheese Shop, 209 N. Linn St., Iowa City

HUMANITIES FOR THE PUBLIC GOOD presents an opportunity to eat, drink, and learn about networking for the humanities.

Many graduate students view “networking” as a fraught term, but who could object to new acquaintances? In this workshop, we hope to convince you that networking builds crucial relationships for most of today’s working environments (in and outside of academia) and equips you with practical and meaningful ways to connect with others, all while you partake in pre-Valentine’s Day sips and bites.

Led by the Obermann Center’s Teresa Mangum and Jennifer New, this workshop will include valuable insights into how to build and maintain productive and beneficial relationships in the humanities and beyond. In the second hour, you will have the opportunity to put your new skills to use as you connect with Iowa City community partners.

Space is limited. It is possible that we will be unable to accommodate all who register, so sign up soon! Accepted participants will receive an email near the event date.
